Look for the UL Logo on Your Next Electric Bike Purchase

When it comes to the safety compliance of electric bikes, it raises the question of the safety of the battery pack. One of the ways you can be certain your battery meets industry safety and performance standards is by checking to see if the battery is UL certified and avoiding Li battery-based products that don't have a safety laboratory mark.

Why Quality Matters

Do you feel downhearted and frustrated when reading many stories about e-bike battery fires? These events may include fatalities and loss of personal property.

No matter what type of e-bike you purchase, it’s important to ensure that its battery has been tested by a third party to confirm its quality. Although UL certification does not guarantee 100% safety, it reduces your risk by at least 90% through its rigorous, complex, and comprehensive procedures.

How UL Benefits Safety Standards

Testing to the UL standard covers several different areas, including electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements. UL will also regularly inspect the battery pack factory to ensure that the quality standards remain high and continue to be made so that they meet the same critical safety components as when they were first evaluated.

Here’s what the organization does:

1. Tests for safety through comprehensive procedures.
2. Requires that its standards are met before certification is granted.
3. Sends out a local UL field representative at least four times per year to ensure products are built in accordance with UL requirements.

To further safety standards in the battery manufacturing industry, UL also offers custom testing to meet design-specific needs, as well as helps the workforce implement training that enhances safety and risk management.

Add Value to Electric Bikes, Not Cost

On May 17th, 2022, Addmotor obtained the Certification of Compliance from UL for our EB2.0 48V*20AH battery pack used in light electric vehicle applications.

See the UL Online Certifications Directory at https://iq.ulprospector.com for additional information

Benefits of this EB2.0 48V*20AH battery pack include:

Rated for 1000-1500 charge cycles
Sustained power throughout discharge cycle - leading to as much as 50% of energy savings when compared to a traditional lead-acid battery
Made from a stable lithium-ion chemical composition that is sealed within the battery, so there is no risk of spillage
An internal battery management system that balances the cells and regulates temperatures

Underwriters Laboratory (UL) is like your favorite chemistry teacher who explains how to conduct an experiment without blowing yourself up and then patiently watches over your shoulder to make sure you follow directions.

What does that mean to you? Look for the UL logo on your next electric bike purchase. The logo assures you that the e-bike is certified by a third party to meet established electrical and fire safety standards.

UL certification adds cost to an electric bike company (and the customers). But here at Addmotor, instead of increasing the unit price, we prepared a big Sales Promotion with discounts of up to $900 to celebrate the great news. We hope that more and more customers can benefit from this achievement and be assured that the electric bikes in their homes do not pose an extreme risk of fire.

Narrowing your electric bike buying decision from thousands of models to the Addmotor models is easy. The 2022 newest models, E-43/E-53/M-66 R7/M-81, are powered by a UL-certified EB2.0 48V*20AH battery pack, these 4 models can cover your needs whether you are commuting in the city, loading cargo, or outdoor beach cruising.
