Addmotor Unveils Freetri E-361

Semi-Recumbent Folding Electric Trike Redefining Urban Travel

The Freetri E-361: Comfort Ride, Fold and Go

Core Design Philosophy | Addmotor Freetri Story

The story of the Freetri E-361 begins not in a design studio, but in the voices of our community. When we launched the flagship Freetan M-368X, it was the culmination of two years of obsessive engineering—a pursuit of absolute comfort through full suspension, precision steering, and an ultra-low step-through architecture. The market response was immediate and overwhelming. Riders didn’t just buy the Freetan M-368X; they embraced it as a new standard for semi-recumbent mobility. Sales surged, waitlists grew, and the model quickly became the benchmark against which all other adult e-trikes were measured.

But true product development doesn’t end at launch. It begins with listening. And what we heard from Addmotor family was unequivocal. They loved the ride, but their lives demanded more than the flagship could provide. RV travelers needed a trike that fit in storage bays. Apartment dwellers had no place to store a full-size recumbent. Petite riders wanted the same ergonomic support in a more approachable footprint. Their feedback wasn’t a request for a cheaper or lesser trike—it was a demand for the same uncompromising comfort, reimagined for compact reality.

"The Freetri E-361 is built upon the mature platform architecture of the Freetan M-368X. It retains the core specifications: the 750W rear-drive motor, the EB 2.0 intelligent control platform, the EC 3.0 electronic control system, and the 48V 20Ah Xuanwu battery with thermally conductive silicone potting. Relative to the Freetan M-368X, the Freetri E-361 introduces four targeted upgrades: a folding frame for optimized storage compatibility, a redesigned triangular saddle to eliminate thigh-root interference, suspension tuning for urban conditions to enhance shock absorption, and 18" x 3.0" urban tires for optimized grip and riding efficiency on paved surfaces. The same platform now delivers engineering extensions in portability and ergonomics, covering a wider range of riding scenarios with standardized flagship performance."

— Kin Chen, Chief Product R&D Officer, Addmotor

The Freetri E-361 is the direct result of this philosophy. Born from user feedback driven, it is not a scaled-down derivative or a budget alternative. It is a rigorous reimagining that maintains flagship-grade performance within a compact, foldable platform. This conviction manifests across four critical dimensions:

1. Physical Constraints Solved Through Mechanical Reconstruction

Freetri E-361 Folding Frame

Optimized Frame Footprint & Folding Architecture

Traditional semi-recumbent trikes face inherent physical limitations in vehicle transport and indoor storage. The Freetri E-361 dismantles these barriers through geometric downsizing and a high-rigidity folding main beam:

Reduced Frame Footprint: At just 72" long and 29" wide, the Freetri E-361 clears standard 30" interior doorways with ease, making it fully compatible with residential elevators and indoor living spaces.

Purpose-Built Folding Architecture: Collapsing to 51.9" L × 29.9" W × 41.7" H, the Freetri E-361 was engineered specifically for three portable-use scenarios: RV travel, SUV trunk storage, and high-rise apartment living. It doesn’t just fit—it integrates seamlessly into mobile and space-constrained lifestyles.

2. Biomechanical & Dynamic Ergonomic Micro-Adaptation

Freetri E-361 Triangular Saddle

Zero-Friction Triangular Saddle

Compact frame geometry alters the riding triangle. Rather than forcing riders to adapt to a smaller frame, the Freetri E-361 adapts to the rider through precision ergonomic tuning:

Replacing the Freetan M-368X’s wide square seat, the Freetri E-361 features a forward-tapered triangular ergonomic saddle. This eliminates thigh-root interference during pedaling—a common pain point in compact recumbents—delivering unrestricted leg movement and natural power transfer.

Freetri E-361 Postural Decompression

Adjustable Backrest 90°–170° Ergonomic Spectrum

The backrest adjusts from 90° (upright support) to 170° (semi-recumbent recline), paired with a sliding seat base and fully adjustable handlebar height/angle. This system accommodates riders from 5'1" to 6'7", distributing upper-body weight evenly to relieve pressure on the lumbar spine, hips, and wrists—regardless of body size or mobility needs.

Freetri E-361 Adjustable Handlebar

Customizable Handlebar Height & Angle Adjustability

Tailoring the ride experience to diverse upper-body dimensions, the Freetri E-361 features a fully adjustable handlebar system. Riders can independently fine-tune both the height and forward/backward angle to achieve an optimal reach.

This precise customization eliminates shoulder strain and awkward arm extension, ensuring a relaxed, ergonomic posture whether sitting upright or fully reclined.

Freetri E-361 Front Suspension Fork

Advanced Front Suspension Fork

Engineered to absorb harsh impacts and road vibrations, the front suspension fork with 80mm of travel ensures a plush, controlled ride across uneven urban pavement and bumpy light trails.

By isolating the upper body from sudden jolts, it enhances steering stability and reduces hand and wrist fatigue during longer journeys.

3. Safety & Stability

Anti-Tip Support Wheels

Anti-Tip Support Wheels

For seniors, rehabilitation patients, and mobility-limited riders, the Freetri E-361 addresses this with purpose-built safety hardware:

High-rigidity auxiliary wheels mounted on both sides of the rear axle provide instant physical stabilization during sharp turns or on uneven surfaces—creating a fail-safe against lateral tipping.

Rear Mechanical Differential

Rear Differential

Allows independent left/right wheel rotation, eliminating rear-end hop and frame torsion during cornering. The result is consistent ground contact and predictable handling, even at low speeds in confined spaces.

360° Passive Visibility Suite

360° Passive Visibility Suite

High-visibility yellow-orange reflective strips encircle each tire, while the upgraded EB 2.0 5-in-1 smart rear light expands its luminous warning surface area. Together, they dramatically enhance lateral and rearward visibility at dawn, dusk, and night—ensuring other road users see you before you’re in their path.

Urban-Tuned Handling

Urban-Tuned Handling

Equipped with 18" X 3.0" Front & 20" X 3.0" Rear urban tires tailored for paved surfaces, delivering optimized grip, responsive cornering agility, and superior riding efficiency across city streets and suburban pathways.

4. Flagship Powertrain: Linearity, Intelligence, and Durability

750W Rear-Drive Motor

750W Rear-Drive Motor with Integrated Torque Sensor

Portability does not mean performance concession. The Freetri E-361 retains the exact electrical and mechanical architecture that defines the Freetan lineage:

Continuously measures pedal force in real time, modulating motor output with seamless linearity. There is no jerky "on/off" surge—only smooth, proportional assist that ensures safe, confident starts and fatigue-free climbing across all seven PAS levels.

48V 20Ah Xuanwu Full-Potting Battery

48V 20Ah Xuanwu Full-Potting Battery

Engineered with a robust aluminum alloy shell, the 48V 20Ah Xuanwu Full-Potting Battery delivers exceptional impact resistance and superior thermal dissipation. Inside, full-potting thermally conductive silicone encapsulation maximizes waterproofing and vibration resistance, while working in tandem with advanced BMS thermal management to regulate cell temperatures in real time. This multi-layered architecture ensures industry-leading safety and longevity—retaining 70% to 80% of its initial capacity after 1,000 charge cycles.

EB 2.0 Smart Control System

EB 2.0 Smart Control System

Integrates torque sensing, multi-stage current modulation, and linear throttle response into a unified propulsion architecture. The system stabilizes acceleration under load, reduces drivetrain stress, and delivers intuitive, human-centered power delivery that feels like an extension of the rider’s own effort.
